Time to move on from ancient joinery to modern furniture making: because of wanting a minimal and elegant look we're not using a traditional subframe, so we can have a large expanse of unsupported top. This means the stretchers are doing double duty, so the 'stretchers' are i beams (literally double the stretcher!), so I’ve started preparing those.

The substrate is hardwood ply (at the cool price of $280 per sheet), and the oversized members have had one lipping put on. They'll get veneered over the lipping then cut to size. If I'm lucky I'll get two perfectly sized strips off this to become the "i" part of the beam.
